Story
Will you take the heat off women and children in refuge?
BCWA strives to give families leaving refuge a helping hand in turning an empty house into a home. Monies raised will buy basic but essential items we all take for granted such as curtains, bedding, kettle, toaster, cutlery, microwave, towels, fridge, crockery, pots and pans etc.
BCWA has been supporting victims of all types of abuse for over 30 years. Last year over 13,000 adults and children were referred to us for help to escape living in fear, overcome trauma and rebuild their lives.
We receive over 9 calls an hour and provide many other vital services. We listen, we care, we support and we are so glad you can too!
How your fundraising helps
Your fundraising supports us to make safe spaces for adults and children fleeing abuse to start new lives free from fear. This year, we are fundraising to:
Make a space to heal by building two new refuge bungalows accessible for people with physical disabilities escaping domestic abuse and modern slavery
Make a house a home, giving families leaving refuge a helping hand with basic but essential items we all take for granted such as curtains, bedding, kettle, toaster, cutlery, microwave, towels, fridge, crockery, pots and pans etc. Our crisis fund also supports with emergency food parcels and transport.
The difference we can make together
Last year’s Firewalk made £14,000 and with your help we can raise even more.
• £20,000 could pay for all the doors and windows in our new refuge bungalows
• £16,000 could pay for a bathroom in each bungalow with special adaptations for people with reduced mobility and other disabilities
• £15,000 could pay for moving on essentials for around 30 families leaving refuge. Families can choose what they need from bunk beds, bed linen, sofa, table, washing machine chairs, wallpaper, paint etc.
