Story

Christmas is on the way and as the festive season approaches, BBS is asking you to join us in spreading joy to blind and partially sighted people across the UK by donating to our Christmas Appeal! This year’s theme is ‘Lighting Up Lives through the Power of Sport’ and your support will help more people with sight loss get active and experience the life-changing power of sport.

If you donate this week, your donation will be matched by our Giving Pot*, which means that your donation will have double the impact. With every donation you make, the Giving Pot will match your contribution, making your £10 donation into £20, £25 into £50, £50 into £100 and so on.

At BBS, we know that sport can transform lives. Being physically active empowers people and has so many benefits. Regular physical activity is not only about good physical health, it also boosts confidence, increases resilience and builds friendships which all add up to better health and wellbeing.

In the UK, just 12% of people with sight loss regularly take part in sport and physical activity. We know that a further 64% of people with sight loss want to take part but experience barriers that stop them.

At BBS, our mission is to make sport and physical activity accessible for all blind and partially sighted people in the UK. BBS is a small and ambitious charity and when you donate this Christmas, you will make a difference by helping us to provide more services that will help more people.

What your Christmas donation could provide:

A gift of £15 could provide an hour of personalised 1-1 support to a blind or partially sighted individual via the BBS Helpline, addressing and overcoming the unique challenges faced by people with sight loss.

Your gift of £25 to BBS this Christmas could provide a ‘First Steps’ pack for blind and partially sighted children - this project provides specialist support that empowers children aged 3-11yrs with the skills and confidence they need to become more physically active & reach their potential.

Your gift of £50 could provide a 60 min ‘Active At Home’ workout class that can be accessed by hundreds of blind and partially sighted people across the UK from their own homes. Helping them, wherever they are, to get active and stay active, as part of our supportive online community.

Thank you so much for helping make a difference this Christmas!
