Story
East Keswick Wildlife Trust are attempting to purchase Bardsey Fields, almost 50 acres of wildlife rich pasture in the heart of Bardsey village which is being offered for sale. We have a once in a lifetime opportunity to save these fields for wildlife and our local community and to protect the fields for ever from unsuitable development. We have the full support of Bardsey Parish Council, Bardsey Primary School and our Ward councillors.
If successful, our longer-term vision is to:
- Enhance nature and wildlife on these already incredible fields
- Facilitate public access and look to link up walking routes through our village
- Inspire people to enjoy and learn about nature and our climate, in particular the children in our local community
- Investigate opportunities to work with nature to help manage water on the fields to reduce flood risk in our community and downstream.
- Work with many others in our community to develop ideas for the site which overlap with our vision
For this, we need to raise £500,000 in total by the 24 November its a lot of money but we think its achievable. Please visit the East Keswick Wildlife Trust website www.ekwt.org.uk for more information and, although we have probably asked you for support before, we hope you wont mind us asking again.
We are raising £15,000 via JustGiving to be added to larger donations being made via other routes to reach the total. We are already over halfway towards our overall target.
