Story
Child trafficking and child slavery is a huge issue in Nepal and the extended lockdown due to Covid-19 has only exacerbated the problem. Desperate families are sending their children away to work in the capital city of Kathmandu in the hope of getting an income. However this rarely happens. The child is put to work but never receives a single rupee.
This Spring we want as many of our supporters as possible to get involved in baking to raise vital funds to rescue and care for more forgotten children. Wherever you are in the world, dig out your favourite recipes and see what creative ways you can think of to raise money for Child Rescue Nepal this spring.
We need as many people as possible to join us in this fundraising challenge to help us to end child slavery in Nepal. Every little helps!
There are three ways you can support the campaign:
1. Organise a bake sale. These are so easy to do and can be as small or large as you like - just ask for a slot at your rotary club, church or school. Get everyone to donate something delicious (home made or shop bought!) and then ask them to buy everyone else's cakes!
2. Hold a coffee morning at your house. If you prefer to keep it small, just invite a few friends around and bake a few yummies. Take a few moments to explain why you are supporting Child Rescue Nepal and leave a plate or tea cup out for donations.
3. Don't want the bother of organising an event? Just bake a huge cake, eat it yourself and pop a donation onto the page. Make sure you send us a photo though!
Thanks so much for taking part in this Spring's fundraising challenge. Do help spread the word by taking photos and emailing them to us at info@childrescuenepal.org or sharing them direct to our social media #bakefornepal. And if you can, send us the recipe so we can all join in!
Once you've raised your funds you can either donate them to us via this page, donate via our website https://childrescuenepal.org/support-us/one-off-gift/ or send a cheque to Child Rescue Nepal, St Clement's, 1 St Clement's Court, London EC4N 7HB.
Please email us at info@childrescuenepal.org if you need any help, or would like leaflets to share at your bake sale or coffee morning.
Thank you!
