Story
Everyone has different ways they choose to help manage their stress and overall mental health and wellbeing. Some of us run, some walk in nature, others create art, while some do yoga and meditation.
However, many of us like to hit the kitchen to focus our thoughts and calm our minds with culinary and baking skills. The act of focusing on preparing ingredients, measuring, weighing, mixing, whisking and managing timings can ease the mind and body. After all, food for the soul has real meaning behind it, especially when we can follow up this act with eating the yummy creations and sharing it with others, offering joy all round.
This is why we've launched our our Bake for Bucks Mind.
Combine your enjoyment for baking and while raising funds for your local mental health charity, Buckinghamshire Mind! How you do this is up to you, here are some ideas:
Hold a 'bake off': Get busy in the kitchen and challenge your friends and family to see who can make the best cake or other goodies. You can sell anything left over after the judges have named their winner and even auction off the winner.
Cake and coffee morning: Bake all your favourites and invite your friends and family for a cake and coffee morning. Charge an 'entry fee' with all proceeds going to Bucks Mind.
Bake sale: Ask your friends or your children's friends to bake cakes and then sell them at your local church/community centre or your child's school.
How about having themed baking celebrations, such as for Halloween or Valentine's Day?
