Story
More than 600,000 civilians have fled Ukraine, according to the UN, and the EU estimates that up to four million people may try to leave the country because of the Russian invasion.
The vast majority of these refugees are women with children, who are crossing the borders to neighbouring countries to the west, such as Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary and Moldova.
After travelling, some times for days, having left their fathers, brothers, uncles and grandfathers at home to fight for their country, children are arriving at the border of Poland exhausted, bewildered, frightened and apprehensive. Many have already witnessed the horrors of war and lost family and friends.
We are working with our network of friends across Europe, to bring a little hope to the child refugees at the border of Ukraine and Poland. Poland have so far taken in more refugees than any other country, with around 50,000 arriving each day.
Help us to bring hope to these children, who are suffering immeasurably. Help us to shower these children with small gifts; a token of kindness, to reassure them that the world is here for them; something that might offer a distraction for a short time.
