Story
For over 12 years, The Ipswich Baby Bereavement Group has supported families during and after the loss of a baby and strives to continually improve support services and resources available locally in Suffolk. The support a family receives after such a tragic, life changing event can be pivotal to their journey through the grief.
The groups meet to provide friendship and understanding in an informal atmosphere, which encourages open and honest conversation, sharing experiences and the day to day coping mechanisms of grief. All are welcome, whenever the loss. This is especially relevant around landmark dates in the year. The group ensures confidentiality and the opportunity to talk openly about their baby, even when friends and family have stopped.
Through fundraising at various events every year, along with kind donations, some of the resources the group provide include, memory making opportunities, staff training and hopefully soon, short breaks away. In 2016, we commissioned The Tree of Remembrance which is made of recycled metal. Each leaf is engraved with the name, date of birth and a loving message - each leaf is a small but significant gesture to each family to honour their babys life.
Every donation received is spent thoughtfully in a way that directly supports families and genuinely makes a true difference to them so thank you from us, thank you from the families and thank you from the precious babies all gone too soon.
