Amherst Youth Basketball (AYB) has provided boys and girls from grade 3 to grade 12, the opportunity to learn and develop a love for the game of basketball for 45 years. Thanks in large part to the community, we have been able to offer this to as many as 900 players in a season.
Buffalo Wheelchair Basketball (Buffalo Rims) offers an inclusive and adaptive environment for boys and girls to learn and develop a love for the game of basketball. This program started in 2019 and in the spirit of community, AYB offered our partnership to help the Buffalo Rims carry out this mission in whatever way we could.
This season we are seeking to raise funds to provide the Buffalo Rims with additional adaptive wheelchairs. These are speciality wheelchairs. Not everyone who would like to play basketball has access to these chairs, as they can cost as much as $5000. Additional chairs in the Buffalo Rims program enables their program to include more people.
On March 12 at Clearfield Community Center, we will host an exhibition basketball game featuring Amherst Youth Basketball (AYB) and Buffalo Wheelchair Basketball (Buffalo Rims). The teams will showcase an adaptive basketball game with a mixture of players from both programs.
This exhibition marks the first year of our partnership and we look to continue to rally the support of the community to increase awareness of the program and to provide further opportunity for all to develop and live a love for the game of basketball.
Thank you for your support of our program by sharing this page and contributing what you can towards our efforts this season.
