Story
Coronavirus means people living with cancer need our help more than ever. So, for the first time ever we are bringing together our Action Team volunteers from across the UK, with the aim of raising vital funds allowing Macmillan to continue to be there when people need us most.
Every other year our Macmillan Action Team volunteers are out rain or shine helping support hundreds of challenge and fundraising events across the UK, from supermarket collections to marathons and festivals. With face-to-face volunteering paused, we are finding socially distanced ways to fundraise safely close to our homes. We want to help ensure Macmillan Cancer Support continues to be there for people with cancer today, tomorrow and for as long as they need us.
£29 could fund a Macmillan nurse for an hour- we are asking as many volunteers as possible to power an hour (or more!) and make a real difference to some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
Volunteers are raising money in a variety of ways, from Brave the Shave to taking on Ride London in their back garden, from knitting toys and making cards to climbing the Eiffel Tower (at home), from hosting virtual tea parties to 24-hour Game Heroes.
Together we hope to achieve something genuinely life changing for people going through cancer.
Not all heroes wear capes- some wear a Macmillan t-shirt, which is why we are calling our campaign Action Team Assemble.
