Story
Approximately one in five Southern Tier children are at risk for food insecurity, meaning they aren't sure when they will have their next meal. This is a distressing thought, but even more upsetting is that this rate of vulnerability is higher here than the national average.
The Food Bank is dedicated to partnering with schools across our region to make sure that our community's children are fed. Over 43,000 kids qualify for free or reduced priced school meals. An alarming 26% of children who face hunger live in households that earn just enough money to DISQUALIFY the family for federal assistance.
The purchasing power of the Food Bank along with our local partners makes each dollar more impactful. $1 dollar can help provide up to 3 meals for a family.
