Story

The ASICS Windermere Marathon plays a significant part in raising funds to improve the life chances of disadvantaged children, young people and families. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we face unprecedented challenges with continuing our charitable work and challenge events.

The 2020 marathon will still be going ahead on the new date of the 1st November. We hope to see as many people, and raise as much money, as possible in what will be a celebration of running and health! If every runner made a commitment to raise a small amount, maybe £50, this would make a massive difference to the future of our charity and the lives of future generations of children and young people.

The course is an undulating, 26.2 mile anti-clockwise circuit of Windermere, taking in Hawkshead, Newby Bridge, Bowness-on-Windermere and Ambleside along the way.

It has outstanding local support and, to top it all, you get to see the inspirational men and women who will be completing the final marathon of their Brathay 10in10.

Brathay Trusts' mission is to improve the life chances of children, young people and families by inspiring them to engage positively in their communities. We work with some of the most disadvantaged and vulnerable children and young people, both in their home communities and on life changing residentials in the Lake District.

We work with a wide range of young people, often with fewer opportunities in life, including those managing the transition from living in care to independence, at risk of exploitation in unhealthy relationships, needing confidence to find work or training, or facing other challenges in their lives.
