Story
Every day millions of older and disabled people go without the social care they need. Civil society believes adult social care is underfunded by at least £8.4 Billion per year. The previous Government asserted it was adequately funding social care but refused to publish the maths. The new Administration has not yet changed direction. With such a gap between what civil society and government say is needed to fund adult social care, there should be no question of the need for transparency and accountability. This affects all of us – we will all need social care at some point.
Update:
We are delighted to share that the Information Tribunal has found in our favour for our first Information Tribunal case.
This means that the Government MUST DISCLOSE the information that Access Social Care requested relating to the evidence considered.
However, this is only the result of the first case we have brought, and we are awaiting judgement on our second round which is to disclose information the government uses to determine ‘sufficiency’. It is vital that this campaign continues until we get a positive outcome for this too.
