Story
Arianna is a beautiful 6 year old twin from Stonehouse, born at 28 plus 6 week gestation. She is the sweetest and happiest little girl, with a contagious smile and everyone around her knows how special she is. She loves school and going out, enjoys speed, jumping and every activity where movement is involved.
After her birth and more than 2 months in NICU Arianna was almost ready to go home and future was starting to look brighter when she suffered 3 serious brain bleeds, fighting for her life for days and facing 3 different brain surgeries in a matter of less than 3 months. This has left us all around her heart broken as Arianna is now affected by profound disabilities. She has developed severe visual impairment and epilepsy and she is not verbal.
Our little girl needs therefore a multidisciplinary therapeutic approach, like rebound and special vestibular physiotherapy together with visual rehab, as she has proved how she can achieve better quality of life and independence through ongoing support. She also needs specialist equipment to help with the therapies as indicated by her physiotherapist. This equipment needs to be safe and supported when indoor and outdoor so she can enjoy multisensory experiences to connect her to the world outside and to follow daily tasks.
We are also in the process of thinking how to better adapt our family home to suit her needs. Since she is epileptic, she will need to sleep on the same floor as us parents so we need a system to get her upstairs safely. We need to adapt some rooms with hoists and create a safe and practical wet room or bathroom where she can enjoy her love for water in the safest manner for her and her carers. We also need to create access to the garden and main door.
To everyone that can spare some time to read about our little girl and can possibly help our family to give her the best comfortable life, a huge thank you.
