Story
If you are looking for an adventure to test yourself, find yourself or just meet amazing new people, all looking for the same thing as you then sign up to this challenge. Not only will you as a person get so much out of it, you'll also get to help DEBRA Ireland to continue do the amazing work they do for people living with EB every single day. It is absolutely a trip of a lifetime. Don't hesitate just do it, you wont regret it!
Your mission is to survive in a harsh, unknown environment like no other.
We will have one mixed group (male and female) of adventurers taking part in the experience of a lifetime from 24th February to 2nd March 2021.
Your environment is SNOW and ICE! Finland, the northern most tip of Europe with never ending horizons of forests and lakes and winters of eerie frozen landscapes. Camp out in minus 20 degrees Celsius with the Northern Lights dancing in the sky.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to push yourself beyond your limits and be tested like you've never been tested before.
Do you have what it takes to go totally off the grid with no running water or electricity; don your snow shoes and learn about this unique landscape with only the Northern Lights as company?
The life experience and friendships I've come away with having participated in the DEBRA Arctic Challenge 2020 most certainly outweigh the physical, emotional and mental challenge of the event itself. And more importantly, to know our fundraising is supporting the worthiest of causes. Thank you DEBRA Ireland.
Get ready to learn new skills and survive the extreme cold of the arctic regions while raising money for children living with the painful genetic skin condition EB (epidermolysis bullosa). It is not for the faint-hearted but the reward you'll feel at the end of it will be worth it.
The first days are dedicated to learning the skills you need to stay alive in this harsh environment building up to the expedition when we pack our sleds and head off into the wilderness pulling sleeping equipment, food, clothing etc. We will camp overnight in sub-zero temperatures in the Lapland wilds.
Accommodation is provided in hostel style rooms. There's no electricity but there is a fantastic traditional Finnish sauna and log fires to keep us warm. All equipment, outerwear and sleeping bags are provided. This is a team effort, so participants will be asked to pitch in and help.
The Arctic challenge will sell out so sign up now to secure your place!
