Story
Avon Riding Centre, a registered charity based in Henbury, Bristol, is celebrating it's 40th Anniversary in 2020.
Initially set up over 40 years ago by physiotherapist Stella Saywell, the Centre has grown from a small group based in the ground of Winford Orthopaedic Hospital to now having over 200 people engaged in the RDA (Riding for the Disabled) programme. This involves riding lessons as well as lessons on a horse simulator, unmounted sensory sessions and Hippotherapy. The Centre's waiting list is growing and they wish to develop their services further to be able to accommodate more people. To achieve this they are looking to build a roof over their outdoor arena. Doing so will allow them to offer more sessions, opening up further availability and being able to reduce the time of their waiting list.
In celebration of the 40th anniversary Avon Riding Centre are encouraging volunteers and riders to set themselves a challenge that relates to 40, that could be 40 miles, 40 cakes or 40 minutes.
Alternatively, the Centre is looking for people to host fundraising events, whether that is a Coffee Morning or an auction.
All money raised will go to funding the roof for the outdoor arena and general arena maintenance. For more information on the Centre or to organise a visit please contact reception 0117 959 0266 or visit the website www.avonridingcentre.org.uk
