Ollie is a young male hedgehog that was brought to our specialist hedgehog rescue with very bad ringworm which is a skin condition. He has lost all his prickles ( spines) due to this condition but is otherwise healthy. He cannot survive in the wild without his prickles as these are his defense from predators and he would not survive. We will treat him with daily baths of special hydrating and soothing emollients and put healing creams on his skin to promote new growth of the prickles. He receives pain relief and he also has red light therapy which will stimulate the growth of the prickles. Ollie will have a lengthy stay with us but we are confident he will regain full prickles and be returned to the wild.

The treatment and care of these hedgehogs takes lots of time given generously by our wonderful volunteers but it also costs lots of money to ensure they have the correct medications , treatments and if necessary veterinary care. For every £1 you give this helps us deliver care and help thousands of hedgehogs back into the wild.

Hedgehogs are now on the Red List in the UK for endangered animals, we cannot allow this precious species to become extinct and rescues like ours are vital to helping them survive.
