Story
The Loewi Fund provides current students with the chance to experience working in a congressional office or with an NGO devoted to advancing public policy issues.
Andy Loewi was president of the student body when the College closed in 1970 amid national political upheaval. He helped lead students, faculty, and administrators through a most trying time. Andys curiosity, ability to negotiate, and devotion to making the world better led him to Washington DC to work for Iowa Senators Culver and Clark. His time on Capitol Hill led him to a career in law and to aspirations for political office.
Current students with a similar drive to understand and influence the workings of our nations government can receive funding for a summer internship in Washington DC. The fund was begun as an alumni initiative and has provided stipends for XX students since its inception in (insert year).
