Story

Shortly before Andre's first birthday he was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. This was caused by severe damage to his developing brain through multiple strokes.

Cerebral palsy varies from person to person. At present for Andre it affects his movement and posture, he has extreme muscle stiffness, as well as no right hand function. As time has gone on, due to the damage to his brain this has caused other neurological problems. Andre has epilepsy and is on anti seizure medication. Andre has damage to his optic nerves in both eyes causing visual impairment. He also has a condition called CVI.

Despite Andre's complex needs, he is the happiest boy, loving, full of fun and smiles. He brightens up a room with his cheeky laugh.

Andre is progressing every day and has come on leaps and bounds within last six months due to many private interventions we have sourced and paid for.

He has so much potential to reach all of his milestones and we want to give him every chance to get there by providing continued therapies which are not available through the HSE/NHS.

We have fully invested in private therapies to supplement the very little Andre receives from the HSE.

We are hoping to continue to raise funds to take Andre back to a specialist paediatric centre that can provide Andre with everything he needs to thrive and grow.

Up until now Andre has surpassed all expectations. We know he can continue to do so with the right supports and help.

You can help immensely by a one - off contribution, setting up a standing order/recurring donation. Or by organising a fundraiser - please contact Kirsty for any ideas and help.

All funds raised go to Andre's Tree of Hope account, a registered charity which pays Andre's healthcare bills directly from all monies raised.

7.5% of all donations to Tree of Hope in relation to this appeal will be allocated to the general charitable purposes of Tree of Hope to cover our core operating costs.

If we raise insufficient funds, or surplus funds, then the funds will be used, if appropriate, to fund support for our child’s needs in accordance with Tree of Hope’s charitable objects. If in those circumstances we are unable to use all or part of the funds for the benefit of our child in accordance with Tree of Hope’s charitable objectives, then any funds that cannot be used will be transferred to be used for the general charitable purposes of Tree of Hope.
