Story

Hello, I’m Amir’s mummy. My little boy, Amir, is just 4 months old, but we are already facing a heart-breaking situation. Since his birth, we have noticed that Amir’s head shape is abnormally long and narrow, and he tends to tilt and sleep on one side of his head. After seeing several doctors and specialists, Amir has been diagnosed with Scaphocephaly and Plagiocephaly, both types of flat head syndrome. These conditions have caused his head to become long and narrow, and one side of his skull is flattened. Additionally, Amir has been diagnosed with Torticollis, which causes tightness in the muscles of his neck, resulting in his head tilting to one side. As a result, his forehead has shifted forward, and his ears no longer align properly.

Watching Amir struggle with this every day is incredibly painful. We want him to grow up healthy and happy, without any physical struggles that could affect his confidence. I fear that he may be bullied about his head shape in the future, and this could have a serious impact on his growth and development. We have been advised that Amir is a good candidate for helmet therapy, which could help correct the shape of his skull. Unfortunately, this treatment isn’t covered by the NHS, as they consider it cosmetic. They have recommended repositioning techniques, but these haven’t worked for Amir.

We are reaching out for help, as we cannot afford this treatment on our own. My husband’s salary is stretched thin covering rent, council tax, utilities, and other essential expenses. I am currently on maternity leave with limited income, as I previously worked part-time, and I use my maternity income to support household expenses. Without your support, we will be forced into debt in order to afford the helmet therapy, and without it, Amir’s condition may worsen as he grows. We are desperate to prevent that.

We would be forever grateful for any support you can offer, no matter how small. Your donations will go directly toward funding the helmet therapy Amir desperately needs. This therapy could quite literally change his life and give him a normal future like every child deserves.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story and for considering supporting Amir.

With heartfelt thanks.

7.5% of all donations to Tree of Hope in relation to this appeal will be allocated to the general charitable purposes of Tree of Hope to cover our core operating costs.

If we raise insufficient funds, or surplus funds, they will be used, if appropriate, to fund support for our child’s needs in accordance with Tree of Hope’s charitable objectives. If, in those circumstances, we are unable to use all or part of the funds for the benefit of our child, any funds that cannot be used will be transferred to be used for the general charitable purposes of Tree of Hope.
