In 2024 we launched our first ever national awareness campaign, celebrating our #BloodyAmazingKidneys. The response was, quite frankly, bloody amazing!
In the first month alone, over 110,000 people completed our online risk checker to see if they might be at increased risk of kidney disease and the campaign was shared far and wide across the UK. It was even talked about in Australia, New Zealand, Turkey and Spain. We continue to run the campaign in 2025 and beyond – if you haven’t already still you can support and share.
Our kidneys are, far too often, the unsung heroes in our bodies – doing a bloody amazing job keeping our blood clean and helping regulate our blood pressure, release hormones, keep our bones strong as well as producing wee. It’s only right that we celebrate them and help people know more about all the incredible things they do because once they stop working as well as they should do, things can go drastically wrong. You can lose up to 90% of your kidney function without even realising and many people are not aware of the signs or symptoms to look out for that show your kidneys may not be working as well as they should be.
This is why we wanted to extend our #BloodyAmazingKidneys campaign and highlight the challenges that people face if their kidneys aren’t working properly. This is why we’ve created My #BloodyAmazingKidneys Challenge. This is an opportunity to challenge misconceptions, challenge yourself and challenge people around you to learn more about kidneys (and raise money for a good cause at the same time).
The My #BloodyAmazingKidneys challenge is about doing something that is a challenge, to you – not everyone is able to jump out of a plane or climb a mountain. For some people, walking 180 steps a day might be a challenge and it all counts!
