Story
Over the last 12 months it has become clear that the majority of the IT equipment used by children in the classrooms is no longer fit for purpose. Attempts to get Government and Council funding for this have failed so The Friends of Alne School have decided, with your help, to do something about it.
Each classroom needs new laptops and tablets. At present there are 40 computers in the school but these are all over 7 years old. 12 of the machines are still running Windows 7 which was last supported by Microsoft in 2011!? Not only are these machines slow and unreliable but they have to be shared by all 111 children. That's one between three! In Covid times, due to quarantine procedures, this is almost impossible. Should another school shutdown occur, the school does not have enough equipment to send home to those that need it. This has to change. Fast.
We've set an initial fundraising target of £2500. This will allow the school to buy 10 Chromebooks. Whilst this is a good start we hope to be able to do more.
Please support our fundraising efforts as generously as you can. Together we can make a real difference to the education of the children in our community.
