PowerPlay, a NYC-based nonprofit that has served thousands of BIPOC* girls & gender non-conforming youth over the last 22 years, invites you to attend a panel discussion on allyship on Thursday, October 15, 2020 from 12 - 1 pm EST. (*BIPOC = black, Indigenous and people of color.)
Background: the Ms. Foundation for Women recently published findings from a study on philanthropic giving showing that giving to women and girls of color accounts for about 0.5% of the $66.9 billion foundations gave in 2018. And girls and women, especially those of color, face compounded challenges which are exacerbated during the current pandemic.
On the 15th, we will hear from powerful panelists Corey Ponder, Brittany Brathwaite, and expert moderator and PowerPlay Junior Board member Shantae J. Edwards.
All guests will be asked to submit questions ahead of time, and key take-aways from the discussion will center around tangible ways that attendees can serve as true, helpful allies for BIPOC girls & gender non-conforming youth of color.
All event proceeds will be split between PowerPlay NYC (a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit; EIN: 13-4045021) and all panelists/moderators.
