Story
What is the #AlcoholChangeUK Marathon Challenge?
Alcohol Change UK has two charity offices, one in London and one in Cardiff, and we wanted a challenge that brought them together to help raise money and awareness within the local areas (and to the wider community).
We have places in both the Cardiff Half Marathon (6 October 2024) and the Royal Parks Half Marathon (13 October 2024) so it seemed perfect to package them into a unique challenge - completing a marathon in two stage, within a week of each other!
You can take part individually (running both races) or as a team (running one of the events each) to reach the hallowed 26.2 miles. Of course if you'd prefer to just run one or the other of the events you're more than welcome to be part of the challenge too as we want it to be as accessible as possible.
Why take on the #AlcoholChangeUK Marathon Challenge for Alcohol Change UK?
Every day in the UK twenty people die because of alcohol. It can affect anyone, from any walk of life but alcohol harm is not inevitable. With your support, change can happen faster.
We want to build a future in which people drink as a conscious choice, not a default; where the issues which lead to alcohol problems like poverty, mental health issues, homelessness are addressed; where those of us who drink too much, and our loved ones, have access to high-quality support whenever we need it, without shame or stigma.
Our team of wonderful #AlcoholChangeUK Marathon Challenge fundraisers are helping to make this a reality.
