Story
Last September whilst I was in Balayan a guy came to Bayanihan village to ask for financial help for his son Matt , I was reluctant to even talk to him as we struggle every week just to keep our livelihood and scholarship programmes going , fast forward to February this year, I was back in Balayan and we went to visit Matt , it turns out he is in urgent need of a kidney transplant, now a kidney transplant is expensive to get done privately in the Philippines, there is some government support but his family has been trying for years with no success , he needs between £15k and £20k .
I sat beside Matt , he is the same age as my grandson James , 12 years old , this frail , fragile little boy just looked at me , didnt say a word , he didnt have to , I thought it doesnt matter what it takes , I dont know how , but we have to help him .
Tony Nellis has sadly lost his dear brother Terry to this dreadful virus , I never met Terry but if he is anything like his brother than he was a giant of a man , full of love and compassion for his fellow man , especially the poor and the marginalised in todays world .
Tony has been twice to the Philippines with Ten Foundations and together with his family never stops supporting us .
Tony and his family have asked for any donations for Terry to be made on behalf of Matt , a lovely and moving tribute to a wonderful human being , a life saving operation for a special little boy .
