Story
We are raising funds to renovate and improve the outpatients quiet room at Airedale General Hospital.
This room is an important space within our busy outpatients department. The room is used by a variety of people, including patients and staff. Often, patients use this facility following an appointment where they may have received bad news relating to results, cancer or another life changing diagnosis. This can be a very upsetting time and it is important they receive this news in a calm, comfortable and caring environment. Having this facility means our patients are given the time they need to process the news and ask questions before leaving the hospital.
At the moment the room is tired, uninviting and quite clinical. We hope to transform this room into a non-clinical lounge area where patients can feel relaxed and at ease. The added extras such as comfortable sofas, soft lighting, plants, and refreshment facilities will mean patients can stay and reflect on the news that they have just received in calm and tranquil surroundings.
From a Christmas raffle the outpatients team have already raised £176 and will also be running other fundraising events throughout the year that you can get involved in.
If you would like further information or would like to discuss setting up your own fundraising activity please contact the charity or outpatients team on 01535 294870 or via email: airedalecharity@anhst.nhs.uk.
Donations of items such as soft furnishings, artwork and equipment will also be gratefully received.
Any funds remaining after the project is complete will be used for the support of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust.
Thank you for your support.
