Story

As the bombardment of Ukraine continues to exacerbate the refugee crisis across Europe, Aid Box Community is announcing a Crowd-funder campaign to raise money to expand its services.

600 Ukrainian refugees are arriving in Bristol through the Homes for Ukraine scheme, and many more are expected in the coming weeks to join family members already in the UK. The people who will be arriving independently or via illegal routes will have no government support.

We are dealing with an unprecedented situation, where our network of small charities will have to support more people than it ever has. To welcome these families to our city and provide them with the support, supplies, and sanctuary they will need to settle here, we are asking you to help us with a monetary donation.

We have never seen this before, Bristol people opening their doors to host refugees on this scale. It's so great, but means we will need to support both the people who have been displaced and the families taking people in. It will be by no means easy.

Our small charity has had to quickly expand once again to a big crisis. We are so grateful we can continue to provide a place where people can feel secure, feel loved, and feel that they can have hope. To do this, we need local support now more than ever before. Please dig deep and support us and our cause in any way you can. - Imogen McIntosh, Founder and Director

Having fled their homes and left behind all that was known, all they had worked for, and all that was loved, forcibly displaced people lack a sense of security and identity.

Physical, emotional, and psychological needs are often not met. Additionally, these people will have recently experienced hardship and trauma.

With your help, we will be able to provide practical necessities, dignity, belonging, and community to all the refugees who are arriving in Bristol and need our support. With our services we want to ensure all refugees and people who seek safety feel loved and feel like they can have hope.

Please donate what you can to Aid Box Community at this difficult time. With this new influx of refugees, we want to ensure we can provide our services to everyone, and we rely on people like you to keep our doors open.

Monthly donations help us guarantee we can continue to run and are important for us to provide long-term support. https://cafdonate.cafonline.org/8535#!/DonationDetails

What will the money be spent on?

The funds you donate will be going to our Essential Aid and Crisis funds. Our essential aid fund allows us to buy all items that cannot be donated or which we are short on, such as underwear, toiletry, nappies, food, socks, bus fares, etc. Our crisis fund makes it possible for us to respond to an immediate crisis. This could be providing a train fare for a legal appointment, to fund urgent dental appointments and care, to provide essential clothes and bedding for over 200 men in a scabies outbreak, or to respond to a sudden influx in demand as a consequence of conflict and persecution, as we see with Ukraine.

I feel so much better now, like I'm alive - M, Service User
