Story
It’s important to acknowledge the importance of cooperative, collaborative play for all children as they develop and grow into social beings. Oftentimes, students with unique challenges don’t have the same opportunities as other children to play in a way that suits their skills.
A new, accessible playground at the AHRC Suffolk Seiff Educare Center would have a tremendous impact on the lives of our students and their families. The proposed play structures will give students of all abilities a comfortable, stable, and safe playground to explore, providing opportunities to develop cognitive abilities, motor, and social skills.
Students will be exposed to sensory information that can improve their overall body and spatial awareness. Specialized equipment such as wheelchair swings and sensory tables will expand the play experience, giving students the freedom to fully navigate the ample space.
We strive to provide students with state-of-the-art equipment to enhance the educational and therapeutic experience, but as a non-profit, there is little excess in our budget left to fund a large-scale project like a playground.
By investing in our playground renovation, you can help fund a new, wheelchair- accessible play space for children who have the greatest needs. You will provide our teachers and therapists with additional, practical learning and treatment space. You can give our students the opportunity to have a variety of social, play, and sensory motor experiences, like their siblings and neighborhood peers get to have every day.
Help us pave the way for play by contributing to this year's Giving Tuesday Matching Gift Fund! Your impact is DOUBLED this year, as gifts will be matched $1 for $1 thanks to our generous matching gift donor, American Recreational Products!
