Story
Merseyside Water Rescue need your help - we are raising funds to keep offering our service to people who need us. We're a local volunteer-based Search and Rescue charity and our aim is to preserve life in and around water. We operate our rescue boat around the Liverpool docks every Friday and Saturday night, also providing proactive water safety/drowning prevention advice to those in need. We aim to be there in those vital few minutes between a person entering the water and the arrival of the emergency services when the risk to life is greatest through cold water shock and drowning. We have saved lives.
The charity currently operates every week throughout the year, our volunteers work through storms, torrential rain and sweltering sunshine. The boats must be kept in tip-top condition so they are always ready when needed, the fuel & maintenance costs are high. Our volunteers need equipment including PFDs (Personal Flotation Devices), helmets, throwlines, high powered torches for searching and radios. We need to constantly train to keep our boat skills, rescue skills and first aid skills up to date.
We have bought out narrow boat home at last! 'The Duchess' has made a huge difference to our work! She does still need some fitting out on the inside.
The only safety boat at the south Liverpool docks is an independent charity, we rely on your generosity to keep offering our service
