Story
2020 was a tumultuous year to say the least. The devestating effects of Covid-19 have been felt throughout the world. In South Africa, a two-month nation-wide lockdown led to an economic slow-down, increased hunger and food insecurity and desperation as people lost their livelihoods.
Afrika Tikkun remained a beacon of hope in the communities that we serve and were responsible for the distribution of over 75,000 food parcels during the hardest months of the lockdown.
2021 will be a year of rebuilding and strenghtening of systems. The desperate need for greater food security in township communities became obvious during the lockdown. As part of our food relief strategy, Afrika Tikkun is developing an exciting new project - the Urban Agripreneurship Project - which aims to equip township youth with the skills and knowledge to start their own small-scale, urban farming businesses.
Your donation will help us to continue providing food security through food parcels, daily meals and supporting our new sustainable farming project.
