Story

Florida United Methodist Children’s Home has been caring for abused, abandoned, and neglected children since 1908. Our residential programs care for at-risk children through 17 years of age on our main campus in Enterprise as well as our Madison Youth Ranch. Care plans are created to meet each child’s individual needs, including specialized therapeutic care and a specific program for those traumatized by sexual abuse. A child’s length of stay varies depending on his or her needs, but no matter how long a child is in our care, we give them hope, love, and a safe place to call home.

Alfie Tounjian and his sister considered it their sanctuary. They discovered solace in a nurturing, protected, and affectionate household atmosphere. We served as their temporary abode until they could return to their mom. Alfie expresses deep appreciation for all the provisions and care offered by the Children's Home during their time with us. His gratefulness has fueled his ongoing commitment to support our organization. Through sharing his personal testimony of how our organization positively impacted his life and providing financial assistance, he ensures that other children facing similar circumstances have access to a secure, loving, and safe home environment when they require it.

In addition to our residential care programs for at-risk children, we provide foster homes for those who qualify, as well as outpatient counseling to help families return to normalcy after suffering the traumas of addictions, abuse and neglect, and separation.

The Children’s Home served 228 children in our Residential Care program last year, as well as 26 young adults in our Independent Living program. A total of 35,268 days of foster care were provided in 71 homes through our Foster Care Services. Additionally, 1,498 children received outpatient counseling through our Circle of Friends Services.
