Story
Royal Marine Commando Adam Robert Brown was born in Yateley, Hampshire on the 25 February 1985. On the 1 August 2010 he was tragically killed whilst serving in Afghanistan. He was just 25 years old.
One of Adam's dreams was to own a beach hut at Mudeford in Dorset where he spent many a childhood holiday with his family. The link to Mudeford has been going on through Adam's family for generations and the memories are very special to them all. Upon returning from previous tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan he would use a beach hut for some much needed rest and recuperation. In his words it is a very special place. So special that he even proposed to his wife Amy there.
We started a fund-raising campaign to purchase a beach hut and so fulfil his dream. Adam's hoofing hut is an extraordinary memorial to an extraordinary man and is being used by Marines and families in need of a quiet place to relax and reflect.
We have been fundraising since October 2010 where we initially raised £41000 for the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund. In January 2011 we started fundraising for 'Adams Hoofing Hut' and we raised an amazing amount of money thanks to all the wonderful fundraising and each and every person who has donated and that helped purchase Adams Hoofing Hut in April 2012. We have had so many wonderful visitors every year and look forward to welcoming so many more. Everyone has said how much they love how the hut has been renovated and we love to receive such wonderful feedback. Please keep spreading the word so more people can enjoy this experience. We are affiliated with the 'Royal Marines Association' who have helped us fundraise as part of their charity and this just giving page was set up with the benefit of adding gift aid to all donations. It has also increased the profile of Adams Hoofing Hut allowing us to raise awareness of our fantastic cause and continue to raise money for the upkeep costs of the hut each year..
