Imagine waking up to excruciating aches and pains that inhibit your movement, making it impossible for you to even get out of bed. Yet you somehow manage to reach for a phone and call a doctor to get a prescription for some pain relievers, only to discover that there aren't any! Why? Because no research was conducted to create the painkillers you need.
That's what the world would be like and that's what we would have to face and more, if priority wasn't given to research. Even now, we are depending on research to get us a vaccine for Covid-19.
The Sonalee Laboratory is the beating heart of the Marfan Trust. In moving to its new, larger home it can continue its precious research into Marfan syndrome. But it is desperate need of help. As a niche charity supporting a niche condition, we are struggling in this uniquely difficult period. We are launching an appeal of £5,000 and hope you are able to support us in continuing our ground-breaking research. Without this additional funding, the Trusts projects risk grinding to a halt. We need your help, Now More Than Ever.
£10 will provide the laboratory with chemicals to screen an entire family for Marfan syndrome
£30 will fund the cost of 1 freezer sample storage rack
£50 will fund a sets of PCR (Polymerase chain reaction) plates each containing a set of 25 plates. These are used for PCR and handling liquids in small quantities.
