Story
In March of 2009, His Eminence, Metropolitan Nicholas of Thrice-Blessed Memory gave his blessing for the live streaming of Divine Services on the Internet from Christ the Saviour Cathedral in Johnstown, PA. Over the past five years, the reach of this ministry has extended far beyond what we ever imagined. It has become a life-line to the Church for many people.
On average nearly 200 people watch the live broadcast each Sunday and nearly as many watch the archived version. We have received emails from soldiers in the Persian Gulf, shut-ins throughout the country and others who have moved to areas where there are no Orthodox Churches, telling us how important this ministry is to their spiritual life.
We have received testimonies from numerous people how this ministry has been life changing for them. One Orthodox woman from a rural area of Virginia, who had not been to an Orthodox Church for five years, after learning of this ministry, and becoming reconnected to the Church through the live broadcasting, has been inspired to travel over an hour attend liturgy at a newly formed mission parish. A man in a remote village in Belize, South America relies on our archived videos of Divine Liturgy to stay connected.
We were able to embark on this ministry thanks to a generous anonymous benefactor who donated the cost of purchasing and installing the necessary broadcast equipment.
We are in need of YOUR help to continue and expand this ministry. We ask that you prayerfully consider assisting us in any or all of the following ways:
