Story

In loving memory of Ian Wicks, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Ian was thoughtful, kind and empathetic, and had an infectious sense of humour that brightened up every room he entered. He was a passionate lover of music and a very talented guitarist – he could often be found either practicing with his band or playing at gigs. Aside from music, he was an enthusiastic golfer and enjoyed nothing more than swapping stories and sharing laughs with his friends on the golf course. His intelligence and wit were matched only by his generosity of spirit, and his presence uplifted everyone who met him.

Ian’s career at Acrisure Re was defined by his professionalism and respect for his colleagues. As a broker, he earned the admiration of both the Acrisure family and the London Insurance Market for his expertise, his integrity and his wit. Ian took great pride in mentoring younger colleagues; always offering them guidance and support with a smile, and a joke. His sense of fun, warm personality, and dedication to his clients made him beloved by all.

Tragically, in April 2024, Ian, aged 66, suffered a fatal brain aneurysm whilst practicing at the golf driving range. Whilst we cannot bring him back, we can ensure his memory lives on and in his honour Acrisure London has committed to supporting Brain Research UK as its Charity of the Year 2025 to raise funds for vital brain health research. It is a cause that is very close to our hearts.

We invite you to join us in this campaign, not only to remember Ian but to make a significant contribution to brain health research. Your support will help further research and potentially save lives, ensuring that Ian’s legacy continues to inspire positive change. Thank you for your kindness, your generosity, and for keeping Ian's memory alive.
