I've always had the idea of biking across Europe to see my family in Cyprus on my bucket list. For various reasons, I haven't been able to do it until now but I'm really excited for the opportunity and to see where the journey takes me.
Andy is taking five weeks off work to travel to Cyprus and back, taking two different routes and only using other transport methods to cross water. HE plans to camp out many nights along his journey as well, if he can.
Andy has decided to use his once in a lifetime opportunity to hopefully start raising money for Oldham MRT to replace it's Land Rovers.
He hasn't got a route planned out and is going to see where his journey takes him. We do know there is a beer stop or two planned in along the way....
Andy will be providing updates along the way so we can all follow his journey with him. He promises we'll get some photos without his helmet on too!
Oldham MRT has two Land Rovers which are now 14 years old, the time has come to start considering replacements. Oldham set out a timeline for the replacements to ideally be by the end of 2025. The Team do not receive central funding to replace vehicles and the primary focus for replacements will be through fundraising and generous public donations.
Oldham Mountain Rescue Team is a registered charity which is funded almost entirely by generous public donation. The primary objective of the team is “to save life and alleviate distress, primarily in upland and mountain areas” without cost or obligation to individuals”.
Our team of 50+ volunteers provide a professional-standard rescue service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 day a year.
