The Irma Marsh Middle School band program needs your help! With close to 50% of the student body enrolled in the band program, the school is in need of clarinets, trumpets, and flutes to allow additional students to participate.

"At Irma Marsh Middle School, our band program is more than just an extracurricular activity—it's a vital part of the Fort Worth, TX community. With over 400 students enrolled in our band program, which makes up more than 50% of our total school population, we are proud to be a thriving hub of musical education, where students of all backgrounds come together to learn, grow, and succeed. We don’t just build musicians; we build community.

One of the most rewarding aspects of our band program is how it connects generations of Fort Worth families. We are fortunate to see multiple members of the same families walk through our band hall, year after year. Siblings, cousins, and even parents who once played in the band themselves return to support their children, creating a strong, multi-generational bond within our program. It's not unusual for our current students to look up to older siblings or relatives who once sat in the same chairs, played the same instruments, and achieved the same musical milestones. These enduring connections help shape a sense of pride and tradition that extends beyond the walls of the school.

Through this sense of community, our students learn not only the skills to become excellent musicians but also the value of collaboration, perseverance, and legacy. Whether it's seeing a former band member return to volunteer, or watching a younger sibling take the stage for the first time, our program embodies the spirit of continuity and familial support. These shared experiences make our program a cornerstone of the Fort Worth community, one that strengthens with every passing year." - Alexis Sampley, Head Band Director

With generous and transformative support from Eddie Van Halen over the years and now continuing through his son Wolfgang, The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation is pleased to announce that the Van Halen Family has committed to kickstarting the Adopt A School campaign with a generous $1,000 donation towards each of the first 100 participating schools.

Schools participating in the Adopt A School campaign are qualified through MHOF’s vetting and eligibility process, giving donors confidence that their investment is protected and sustainable, impacting students for a minimum of 10 years (the lifespan of an instrument in a school setting.) Donations made to this school’s fundraising campaign go directly to The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation (MHOF). MHOF then purchases the specific instruments the school is in need of at a substantially discounted price and the instruments deliver directly to the school.

Donate today and help these students foster their love of music, every dollar counts!
