Story
This is my beautiful daughter Ellie. Ellie has an condition called Angelman syndrome this affects her in a wide variety of ways this includes:
*Her ability to walk - Angelman syndrome affects the nervous system causing atactic movement and trouble with balancing causing her to have trouble with simple things such as climbing in and out of bed.
*Her ability to talk - Ellie is non-verbal but is finding her voice through simple signs and pec cards - this is a slow working process.
* Her ability to eat - Ellie has an unsafe swallow and has had a feeding tube since she was a baby after surviving pneumonia when she was just 4 months old.
* Her ability to sleep - Angelman can cause sleep problem and affects Ellie's ability to feel tired and stay asleep.
* Her ability to control dribble - Ellie's inability to control her dribble causes her to choke and be sick when she is unable to control what is in her mouth and has recently started medication that is starting to help!
* Angelman can also cause seizures - Ellie is lucky as she does not suffer frequently with these but as she gets older there is a possibility these could become more violent and frequent.
Ellie uses a variety of different equipment to help her with her day to day activities. This includes things such as
* Special play therapy and feeding chair
* Wheelchair
* Splints and body suit
* Tube feeding machine
* Pulse oxygen machine
* Nebulizer and suction machine
We desperately need to provide Ellie a safe space especially during the night and are hoping to raise £13,350,00 for a safe space bed for Ellie to have a space to play and stay safe during the long sleepless nights.
Thank you for all your support and help. Every donation is greatly appreciated and helps fund keeping Ellie safe.
