PREVIOUSLY....
Zorro was brought over to the UK because of his nasal issues, and after being tested his results showed no cancer.
There was only evidence of an inflammatory response so the vet thought it was a foreign body e.g. a bit of grit, blade of grass. thats got stuck up there and caused an infection and inflammation. Sadly they cannot remove it surgically because the place its in is too close to the brain.
Zorro had an urgent CT scan and treatment for possible aspergillosis. (a fungal infection caused by the Aspergillus, a species of common mould found throughout the environment, including dust, straw, grass clippings, and hay). And thank you to your generosity we managed to raise the procedural costs.
UPDATE
Unfortunately the PROCEDURE FAILED to cure Zorro, so....
We spoke to the vet about possibly repeating the procedure he had a few weeks ago. However, the vet is not keen as its a high risk procedure and recently he lost a dog doing it, the dog died the day after surgery. The main risk is that the plate that sits between the back of the nose and the brain is compromised and the surgery affects the brain. So he will do it but hes not enthusiastic .
The vet has done a lot of research and is recommending we try a combination of a drug and a homeopathic remedy which Zorro might need to have for 3-6 months. We would know after a month or so whether it was working as we should see an improvement in his symptoms, in the meantime he continues to have nosebleeds and snot from the right nostril in particular although the left one does seem to be improved compared to before the procedure.
We have now ordered the homeopathic medication and his anti fungal medication so what we now need to do is raise the money to pay for them. We are really DEPENDING ON YOU, our Amicii family, to donate towards helping Zorro achieve the happy ending he deserves.
