Story
To celebrate World Porridge Day 2021, we are inviting our supporters to donate mugs of porridge to children in Kenyan primary schools. Each mug of porridge in a school Porridge Club costs just 9 pence and means a child can go to school, rather than having to work, scavenge or beg for food.
£9 provides 100 mugs of porridge
£22.50 provides 250 mugs of porridge
£90 provides 1,000 mugs of porridge
Porridge Clubs and the subsequent daily school attendance give children hope and opportunity for a more prosperous future. Brenda's story explains the difference it made to her when she was growing up in Thika.
Since children returned to school in early January following local Coronavirus lockdowns, our partner identified early cases of malnutrition among 60% of the 2,000 students they support. As such, daily mugs of porridge have been fortified with amaranth and ground nuts to provide children with additional nutrients.
This World Porridge Day, our aim is to provide 3,000 mugs of children born into poverty in Kenya. Will you donate a mug or more? Thank you!
