Story
Early detection saves lives.
Join us in fundraising this June and complete the Wirral Costal Walk and help those affected by lung cancer.
Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation was founded on an unrivalled ambition to improve the early detection of lung cancer. This dedication is as strong today as it was 33 years ago because early detection saves lives.
Our research into early detection has laid the groundwork for lung cancer screening and we now stand on the cusp of a national lung cancer screening programme. Whilst we continue to campaign for this implementation, we are proud to support the continued rollout of its Targeted Lung Health Check programmes, which is seeing a 77% early detection rate.
There is no doubt screening can help revolutionise the earlier detection of lung cancer, but it is far from the end of the story.
Our ongoing research into the development of new early diagnostic techniques, including blood tests and sputum swabs remains vital and at our core, as does our work in symptom awareness, challenging disease misconception and empowering self-advocacy to ensure everyone is diagnosed at the earliest opportunity.
Last year, we gave out over £66,000 in patient relief grants alone, providing a little bit of financial respite to those living with lung cancer in these tough times. However, as energy bills and food prices continue to soar, there are still so many people facing an unbearable pressure and potentially unthinkable choices to make.
Roy Castle Lung Cancer is doing everything it can to support those living with lung cancer throughout the cost-of-living crisis, as well as ensuring everyone is diagnosed as soon as possible and has access to the best treatment for them.
But we cannot do it alone. Your support is essential to helping and improving the quality of life for people with lung cancer.
Thank you for supporting us, Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.
