A second deadly Covid-19 wave is sweeping across India - they need our help urgently.
Currently there are over 18 million cases and over 2,000 deaths per day. Funeral homes are overwhelmed, health services are struggling to cope and there is a critically low oxygen tank supply. Amid this crisis, the black market oxygen tank prices have hiked by 1000% making it unaffordable for people to purchase.
Unable to breathe and gasping for air, people are dying in queues desperate for oxygen tanks to be re-filled every few hours, and the country is facing a nation-wide oxygen shortage.
Our Who is Hussain Bangalore team in collaboration with The Community Covid Task Force (CCTF) is currently active on the ground, comprising of doctors and working closely with hospitals to supply on-going access to oxygen.
To assist their efforts we have launched a 7-day emergency appeal for oxygen concentrator machines - an effective way in battling the oxygen shortage. Oxygen concentrators draw in and extract oxygen from surrounding air and therefore have a huge advantage over oxygen tanks/cyclinders because they last significantly longer. Whilst a bit more costly because of the technology they use, they are more lightweight, portable and can be used to help more people for longer.
Our concentrators will be used to provide 2-3 days of oxygen supply as patients wait for admission to hospital, providing an earlier intervention that can save lives. But to do this we need your help, and we are counting on your support to raise £16,250 for 25 oxygen concentrator machines.
All donations will be used to purchase oxygen concentrator machinary.
