Story
The Inverasdale Community Centre will emerge out of the repurposing of the Old School and Schoolhouse at Inverasdale. The idea grew out of the local communitys wish to retain a much-loved local landmark and to provided facilities for the local population and the growing number of visitors to the area where there is no other public building along a 9-mile stretch of coast.
Our local primary school children were moved to Poolewe Primary in 2012 ending 135 years of educational provision in the Old School. The community along the schools catchment area from Naast to Cove asked that Highland Council allow it to continue to use the building and organise a celebration of the special place of Inverasdale School in the heart of this community. A group, made up of past-pupils and community members of all ages was formed, which is now the Wester Loch Ewe Trust, a registered Charity, some of these volunteers families had roots in the area for more than 200 years!
Phase 1 of the project was to renovate the schoolhouse section of the building and it is now complete with a newly renovated tearoom space and catering kitchen!
Planning is now underway for Phase 2 to ensure that the old school can be utilised for the benefit of our communities along the shores of Loch Ewe.
A donation to Wester Loch Ewe Trust supports us to preserve the cultural heritage of our area whilst also driving us closer to a positive environmental and economic future for our dispersed communities.
Thank you for your support!
