Story

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a big impact on homelessness and homelessness services. After lockdown closed traditional day and night centres, we saw instead a huge national focus on getting people into hotels to enable them to self-isolate and stay safe and well.

This gave us a once in a lifetime opportunity to make real progress with some of the most vulnerable members of the homeless population. A stable place to sleep and regular meals provided a solid foundation from which to work with them to provide the support needed to move into longer term accommodation.

As we reopen our doors we now need support to continue our vital work in a Covid- secure environment.

When people are struggling, they may have had lots of offers of support from family, friends and services that have broken down or have not worked. They may feel lonely, isolated and feel that they have nowhere left to turn. This is where we can make a difference.

At The Connection we support hundreds of people every year to move away from, and stay off the streets. We work with people to tackle the underlying, profound causes of someone's situation such as addiction, trauma, or mental illness as well as the immediate presenting issues like food or shelter.

We work with people not for them. We recognise people as individuals with their own unique experiences, strengths, talents and dreams, and put them in the centre of their recovery.

Thank you for supporting people on their journey away from homelessness.
