Surviving the pandemic

Covid may be lessening its grip in the UK but it's far from over for our partners in Malawi. They rely on our tourism to fund, support and raise awareness of their work to alleviate poverty in Malawi. Can you help keep them going?

Story

The last two years have been hard on all of us. And especially so for our partners in Malawi.

Open Arms was obliged to limit the number of children it could accept into their homes but managed to extend its outreach into the community to meet the demand for support from increasingly desperate families.

Thom and Rita in Mangochi have been battling to keep village children at their two schools, reassuring parents with expensive cleaning equipment, thermometers and masks when they were already struggling to fund critical educational materials.

Petal and Tom are committed to working with the local community to protect Zomba Plateau's dwindling forestry despite having their work and growing increasingly desperate for an affordable source of fuel to heat their homes and cook their food.

Sport can always be relied upon to lift spirits in times of crisis - but only when there are balls to play with and footwear to play in.

We are doing what we can to fund these programmes until tourism returns and they can fund themselves. Will you help us to keep these programmes going until that time?
