Story
We are raising funds for Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital by taking part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge!
The Three Peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside are among the best known hills in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The peaks, which form part of the Pennine range, encircle the heads of the valleys of the River Ribble and of Chapel-le-Dale.
The challenge is to walk the circular route, scaling each peak in turn, aiming for a time less than 12 hours. The total walking distance is 39.2km (24.5 miles).
Funds raised from the event help us enhance both Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital for the benefit of patients, their loved ones, visitors and staff. Examples of how these funds have helped make a difference include additional wheelchairs, brightening of wards and departments with new decoration, furniture and artworks for comfort, and creating tranquil and calming environments to promote wellbeing and recuperation for patients and staff. You can read about what we do on our website.
Funds raised from this event will also support our 'Space to Grow Appeal', supporting the incredible Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The £100,000 appeal will enable us to create a sensory room, a family ‘Haven’, a siblings play area and a specialist learning facility within the unit. Please support us in any way you can and together we can make a real difference.
The walk will take place on Saturday 9th September, beginning in the picturesque Horton in Ribblesdale. If you would like to join the team or find more about what's involved, please email abby.wardill@nhs.net and we'll provide you with all the details and everything you need.
