Story
Venice to Ventoux is a 1000km, 8 day cycling trip across Italy and France in June 2022 aiming to raise £5000 for MUG.
Why Venice to Ventoux?
Venice to Ventoux was the shared vision of Nathaniel Jones and Saxon Brewer-Marchant as a way to push their minds and bodys whilst raising money for charity. The idea for the trip came in late 2019 in memory of Nathaniels Grandfather who loved cycling, the Tour de France and Venice from his days as an artist. Venice and Mont Ventoux were places he had visited numerous times and from this we started to form a plan.
The Plan
Unfortunately for the last 2 years the Coronavirus pandemic has halted our plans but this year with easing restrictions we are setting out in early June to complete this adventure. From Venice we will head north west through Verona, Bergamo, Lake Como via the Madonna Del Ghisallo, a pilgrimage site for cyclists, down towards Turin before heading over the Alps and the Col DIzoard towards Gap and Mont Ventoux itself. Starting on the 4th June we aim to complete this route in 8 days finishing on the 11th June.
Why MUG?
MUG is an amazing local charity that raises awareness of male cancers and general well being in Guernsey. MUG helps Guernsey males through a number of key initiatives, from running awareness campaigns and education to sports initiatives and medical training equipment. These are causes that we both feel strongly about and a charity that has supported our trip from concept to planning and execution immensely.
We are aiming to raise a minimum of £5000 through a number of events this spring.
Please keep an eye of MUGs social media for more information.
