Story
The third Monday in January, Blue Monday is often when there are most absences from work, days off school and generally a day when, with the Christmas festivities a fading memory, people may be feeling low and struggling with their mental health. We want to turn it from blue to bright particularly bright orange - with our awareness campaign. The idea is to make everyone smile and be happy, so the charity is urging people to dress up in orange, or something similarly bright, for the day whether thats at work or in school. Do a physical activity dressed in orange, make orange cakes or just get together with colleagues or friends its up to you, as long as youre brightly dressed. The overriding aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of mental health issues. We want to help as many people as we can who may be feeling down and give them a reason to smile that day! It would be a reminder to us all that when you are feeling down, there are always little things you can do to feel better. Everyone who participates will receive a well-being tips sheet and the charity will be posting on social media throughout the day. To turn news feeds bright, anyone taking part is asked to share pictures on social media with the hashtags #turnbluemondaybright, #TBMB #RDHP and tag the Headlight Project, @theRDHP. We would suggest a donation of £2 for dressing up. However, any fundraising is entirely down to you and not a condition of taking part.
