Serving All: Supporting Accessibility & Community at Wendens Ambo Church
St Mary the Virgin, Wendens Ambo, is a Grade I listed church at the heart of our village, serving as a place of worship, celebration, and community gathering. In May 2026 we reached (almost) the end of our project, to install an accessible toilet and a small servery and seating area in a little used corner of the church. Work remains to be done, and we are still fundraising, but most of the work has been done, and we believe that Tim would be delighted that his vision has come to fruition.
We have also now raised sufficient funds for a window in memory of Tim. This was installed in May 2026. Any further donations will go to the maintenance and development of the "Serving All" project.
Why We Still Need Your Support
This project is not just about modernisation – it’s about ensuring everyone can access and enjoy St Mary’s. We have already secured:
- a £10,000 donation from Friends of Wendens Ambo Church
- Over £70,000 in congregation and community donations from businesses in Wendens Ambo.
- Nearly £60,000 from generous grant funders - the Garfield Weston Foundatiion, Benefact (Ecclesiastical Insurance), the Friends of Essex Churches Trust, and the National Churches Trust (the Headley Trust)
