Story
The Theatres Trust is the national advisory body for theatres. We believe that current and future generations should have access to good quality theatres where they can be inspired by and enjoy live performance.
We promote great theatre buildings by advising, funding and campaigning on behalf of theatres across the UK.
We believe its not just about buildings though, its about people. Throughout the UK people come to the theatre to see a live performance, to visit with their school, to participate in a community group or simply to socialise.
Theatres are one of the few buildings left in communities where people can come together whatever their age, ethnicity or class. A place where relationships are built, where people can connect, understand what it means to be human and so it improves society for everyone.
Last year over 5 million people attended theatres benefitting from the Theatres Trust support, however we know there is more vital work to be done and we must respond to this demand.
Theatres across the UK continue to close or be under imminent closure or demolition. Our grants programme that provides essential funding for capital works and urgent repairs to keep theatres open are hugely overly subscribed.
This year we hope to raise at least £5,000 to help us to continue our existing work, and the additional crucial work that we know must take place to ensure that all current and future generations have access to great theatre buildings.
We hope you will support us and do watch our short film of Michael Ball, one of our Ambassadors, talking about the importance of theatres in the community.
Thank you in advance.
