Story
Our flagship programme, The Leeds Fund provides vital funding to support the long-term sustainability and survival of Community Organisations, ensuring they are in the best shape possible to do what they do best - help local people.
We can all appreciate how hard things are right now: with the cost of living crisis on top of austerity, cuts to public services, insecure employment, rising debt, and the impact of world events on local people. It means the burden of poverty across our area continues - 24% of people in Leeds are living in poverty and 35% of children - we expect this figure to continue to rise. This is going to be a tough winter for everyone, but for those in greatest need it will be catastrophic.
Without Community Organisations providing for these individuals and families, Leeds would be facing a much higher degree of hardship. They are now providing safety net services for more and more vulnerable individuals and families.
Your support of The Leeds Fund will enable us to give out more grants to Community Organisations in our city, making sure people get the help they need when they need it the most.
Together, we can be a lifeline for communities in Leeds.
Leeds Community Foundation is responsible for raising 100% of our core costs. Accordingly, we need to ensure that we cover all our overheads including the costs of governance and of advising and administering any funds. We take a management contribution on all funds managed by the Foundation which is re-invested in staff time to run our efficient and effective grant programmes, conduct full due diligence, and provide practical support and advice to local community projects.
